THE NEW HARTFORD

KARATE CLUB
what we offer
Discover Litchfield County's hidden gem.

Affordable classes
Unlike commercial schools, this organization is a non-profit entity, collecting only the necessary funds. There are no student contracts and financial commitments. We have not changed the participation fee since 1969! Class contribution remains at $3/per class and $5 for a family.

Community
Ask any of our members and they'll tell you being part of NHKC feels like being a member of a family. No matter what is happening in your life, you will have a place to train on Monday nights.

Inclusivity
NHKC welcomes everyone in all walks of life. We are happy to meet you where you are at physically and mentally. We welcome anyone to come and train with us. Although the training is challenging, you do not have to be a super-athlete to participate. We aim to emphasize, heavily, the development of the individual student.

purpose through training
The style of Karate we practice is called "Mushin", which translates as "mind-of-no-mind" a state of selflessness essential for clear perception. Exercises are 10 pillars of training. Our central goal is to make our students "strong enough to be gentle" through the process of self- understanding and growth.

Qualified Instructors
We afford participants with the best possible instruction. You will be working one on one with high level black belts who have been studying and practicing for 30+ years. The program is designed and taught by professionals with extensive experience in the classical, ceremonial and practical aspects of their art.

facilities
Our Dojo is lucky enough to be hosted by Berkshire Hall in Brodie Park. Traditionally in the summer months we have the ability to train outside and by the water of West Hill Lake.
